Threads is the new platform which was launched by Meta this week. Rivalling Twitter, Threads allows users to share their thoughts, news, and content without needing to have a visual aid - creating a more casual approach to social media compared with Instagram. Artists should keep their content light, fun, and casual, to perform best on this new platform. Artists can utilise Threads to showcase their new releases, announcements, and have conversations with their audience. Threads seamlessly integrated with Instagram, with both profiles linked to each other to ensure maximum visibility for promotional efforts.

Instagram users may now add music to their notes status on the platform, highlighting the song and artist. Your friends will be able to listen to a 30 second snippet and reply directly through the messages. To add a new music note, tap the '+' in your inbox, select the music icon and which song you would like to post, add any additional comments, and share to your friends and followers!

TikTok has unveiled new features for artists on the platform.
Artists may now apply for an 'Artist' tag to be displayed on their TikTok profile. Your artists will also have the ability to highlight, pin, and curate releases within the music tab on their profile for maximum visibility for their fanbase! Videos created by an artist using their releases will have a 'By Artist' tag, and have new releases tagged 'new' within the Sounds Detail page, the For You page, and the Music Tab.

Luminate has released their mid-year streaming report. The report reveals that as of March this year, the global music industry reached one trillion streams the fastest it ever has within one calendar year - this is one month sooner compared to 2022. The Luminate reports that audio and video streams are up compared to mid-last year, and music consumption is up for both physical and digital formats. Goldman Sachs has revealed their music industry forecasts within their 2023 'Music in the Air' report. The firm has predicted that the global music market will worth an estimated $92 billion in 2023, and is predicted to rise to $151.4 billion by 2030. Goldman Sachs believe the industry is on the cusp of a major restructure based upon industry challenges such as generative AI, the under-monetisation of music content and out dated streaming royalty structures.
